A binder coating is for those courts that have problematical areas eg Moss, sap from trees etc. It is solvent based (in preference to the water based variety), and is used to re-coat the “grains” of macadam where the original bitumen has oxidised too greatly.
Although more expensive than the paint being applied, it does however increase the life of a court, and slow down the deterioration process that the moss and dripping sap will cause. It is recommended to have courts over the age of 10 to 12 years to be totally covered with this product prior to the painting.
